    Question about long service awards

    Hello,

I was wondering if someone could tell me if a soldier, who was also a member of the NSDAP, would be awarded the long service awards of both the NSDAP, as well as the Wehrmacht? Also, if this was true, would he/she wear the ribbons of both on the ribbon bar? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    regards,

    Darren

Highly unlikely, for the simple fact that a person wouldn't be able to accrue service in two branches simultaneously. Combat personell wearing the NSDAP long service ribbons were likely long term Allgemeine SS serving in a reserve rank in the Waffen-SS.

Wehrmacht soldiers could have been card carrying members of the NSDAP, but it would not have made them elegible for the long service awards.

I hate to say it, but every time I have seen NSDAP long service awards mixed in with Wehrmacht long service awards, the ribbon bar was a blatant fake.

Accidentally offending people on the internet since 1997

Thanks Mark, I appreciate the great information. I see that a person would only qualify for NSDAP time if they were serving full-time in a party role.

      regards,

      Darren
