......Does the swaz on this Memel variation always look like the one imaged here? Perhaps I haven't been paying enough attention to these badges. Or, is that just a 'trick of photography'? If I saw a swaz like that one, on a Memel badge at a show, my initial reaction would be reproduction.

On this type of Memel the swastika should definitely look like that. It's not quite canted to 45 degrees is it?

I agree with Tom. And not only on the Memel, but in the others flower's war medals too the swaz is made in this way.
