    8 year ss medal

Was needing some input on this piece. Looks like zinc pest but these weren't produced in zinc??
    Only 2 photos I have

    Thanks

Im sure i left an answer to this yesterday.

These were produced only in Tombak.

Zink would indicate it is a reproduction.

      Hi Keifer
You did, but I figured I'd post it in the appropriate forum
Thank you again for your response

Not sure if it is zinc pest or what, but some better straight and not fuzzy pictures are surely needed to have a correct idea about it.

Everything about those pics looks like someone is trying to hide something.

You are probabbly correct John: fuzzy and ugly pictures + strange/dirty medal, in the most part of cases = fake.

The zink is visible on the RH rim(as we view it) shining through where the finish has come off.

I think this medal has undergone some Artificial Antiquifie-ing

                Hi guys,

(I'm re-posting my comments from the other thread that discusses this same medal.)

In my opinion a fake. The rough spot on the rim of the medal (circled in red below) looks like flash from a casting sprue. I also agree with keifer kahn that these were not made in zinc.

Deutsche Orden und Ehrenzeichen 1800-1945, by Nimmergut, says that these were made in Bronze getönt (toned-bronze) and Messingbronze getönt (toned-brass/bronze).

                Best regards,
                Tom

Thanks for the comments guys, nice eye Tom with the spot of
                  the casting material
                  Saved me some $$

                  Much appreciated!
