Help - New to Collecting

Hi Everybody,

I wonder if you can help, im new to collecting german insignia and ive recently purchased a german award. I think its to do with horses or riding.
Its black, heavy and about 5 inch's round. There is writing on both sides and it may be SA??? im so confused any help would be most appreciated. Pics if possible.

Could be that your award is the one pictured below, perhaps? This information comes from pages 314-16 of Angolia's reference: "For Fuehrer and Fatherland: Political and Civil Awards of the Third Reich". You'll need to get yourself some good reference books for the hobby, in addition to being a member of this most valuable Forum.
