I've seen them 'sticking up', but not quite like this one.
Here's an example I have in my files (sorry owner, I hope you don't mind!)
Note that the mm's are slightly different, and real differnet hinge/catch..

It would help to have a couple of clearer pictures o Obverse and Reverse of medal, but I like what I see. I've seen that type of catch / pin / hinge on 107s before
Agree with Darrel, the hinge/pin setup is correct for this maker.
The maker's mark also comes in at least 3 variations:
first is what you have shown,
second is where there are horizontal lines running across the base of the numbers 107; and
third type is with the number "107" all very close to each other.
