            Unit

I was about to ask what unit he was in; but I guess that answers that!

            That's a nice group!

              Very nice!

              Hi Ron,

Very nice items. Thanks for posting. A superb medal bar from 1943 and still in excellent condition. I really like the customer receipt for the medal bar. Beautiful workmanship for the bargain price of 1,60 RM.

The document is really nice too. The printed script on that document is quite unusual for an EK2 and therefore I believe it is a very scarce variation. The document is in excellent condition and, just in case you didn't know, it is signed by Martin Dehmel.

              Best regards,
              Tom

Medal bar is in mint condition, but IMO the real gem of the group is the maker packet!

Kovalski and Kreowski are so different that misspelling is rather impossible. It was switched at some point or someone picked up wrong envelope at the time or simply got in his possession by accident

Tom is right - that is a very unusual award document. 292. Infanterie-Division saw little action during the first phase of the war in the West. However, it was deployed opposite the Aisne Canal during Fall Rot, the second phase of the invasion of France. It crossed on June 6th and it is highly likely that his award is related to this fighting - the total defeat of the French.

                              Thanks guys!

Here are some more of Kovalsky's Award documents.

(He was awarded the German Cross in gold on February 15, 1945 for fighting at the Fortress Posen but never received the award as he was captured and spent a number of years in a Russian Prison camp.)

Also some of the hundreds of photos from his estate.
