I wanted to ask can you guys please tell me which medals are in this photo ? and also is it possibe to find out who this man was ?

    Thanks a million.

    Hi Ian,

    (from left to right)

    1) Prussian 1914 Iron Cross Second Class
    2) Kingdom of Saxony Military Order of St. Heinrich- Knight's Cross
    3) Kingdom of Saxony Merit Order- Knight's Cross First Class with Swords
    4) Kingdom of Saxony Order of Albrecht- Knight's Cross First Class with Swords
    5) Kingdom of Saxony Long Service Cross for Officers (25-years)
    6) Hessen Silver Bravery Medal
    7) Saxon-Meiningen Military Decoration for Merit in War
    8) 1914-1918 Cross of Honor with Swords

Below the medal bar he wears the Prussian 1914 Iron Cross First Class.

At the neck he wears the Kingdom of Saxony Commander's Grade of the Military Order of St. Heinrich.

    Best regards,
    Tom

Of interest is the fact that the Saxon Merit Order is being worn on the ribbon of the Saxon Order of Albrecht and the Saxon Order of Albrecht is being worn on the ribbon of the Saxon Merit Order.

Thanks guys for the super info !
I had a look at wikepedia for winners of the Military Order of St. Heinrich and didnt find anyone matching the mans photo.

Do you think this chap is traceable ?

        Ian :-)

Yup. Easy. I think I own his 1918 Ranklist in fact. Post it at gmic. Dave Danner and Glenn can confirm, but Saxons atent difficult to trace.
