Police 25 Year - Ring Maker Marked

Here is an example that I came across - not mine, not for sale. But would be interested to hear some thoughts - if the marking is official, which I am hesitant to believe, it would be a big indicator on who made this design for the police medal (the most common design in my opinion).

The mark is a messy "15". This is the first and only police medal I've seen marked.

    Hi Josh

Might sound stupid but...If this variant is always unmarked and it typically has an open ring but ring marking looks correct its impossible to judge if this particular ring is original to this medal or a replacement coming from another open ring gold LSA more commonly encoutered with this mark that uses the same ring (25 year Wehrmacht, 40 year government etc ?). We also know that hardware (pins, rings, hinges) was often "third party" produced and shared so who knows how these 2 came together

The only way to confirm the maker would be to find other credible pieces with same marking or a clear Orth catalog photo (The Assmann Catalog for example shows accurate but enhanced photos; others are just line drawings) that links this specific design variant to this maker

    Regards
    JC

Thanks JC. I did think about some of your statements before I posted, and agree it is impossible to know, as it was with that Wehrmacht one that was recently posted with a marked ring that I commented on.

I suppose I was wondering if the "15" even looked legitimate (as I think it does not)?

And another more appropriate question would have been if anyone else has seen a "15" marked example of 25 Year Police medal?

      Best,
      Josh

Not '15' but my 25 year Polizei is a '16' marked Rettenmaier

There is an Ebay trader here in the UK selling postwar Ostvolk medals with the '15' stamp on the rings ... I have a shot of the stamp somewhere if that would help ?
