    west wall medal

Hey guys! I would love to see some pics of known fakes of the west wall medal. Are they reproduced often??

    Thanks.

Hi Nate, welcome to the forum, the west wall medal like any other is copied. Fakes are crude and made of poor quality metal, that bends easy. Reason being this medal is still cheap to buy so requires little imput from fakers. Sorry but i have no pics. Hope this is of some help, all the best.

      early and late

Thanks for the info. I believe i own two original west wall medals, one late war zinc and the other early bronze for a parade tunic. I will have to post pics as soon as I get back home to where my camera is. How can i tell if my medal is zinc?

Hi Nate, West wall medals made of Zinc where either given a Bronze wash which tended to come off quite easily over time, or were bronze plated. The washed ones will show signs of a dark slate like grey colour underneath the bronze. The plated ones normally (on the outside rim) will show signs of flaking unless yours are mint that is. Post pics when you can but i would be surprised if they were fake. Hope this is of some help.
