    Italo-German Afrika Medal

    Hi,

A recent acquisition for review. Based upon the fine guide written in this section by Antonio I would say this is a Type 2. Comments are appreciated!

    Thank you

    Hi,

As I look closer at this medal and the ones posted in the guide by Antonio, I think that something is up. The area around the archway does not look like a Type 2 however more like that of a Type 3 or 4. Also, on the side with the soldiers, the one leg does not appear to be struck as "deep" as on the examples. Now I am very curious to learn........fake.......different type?

    Thanks

        Hi Antonio,

Many thanks for the reply! I look forward to purchasing a copy of your book as I would like to collect an example of each type. I understand the difference in the arch area, it was the soldiers leg or apparent lack of one which had me somewhat concerned. The medal strike seems to be pretty good overall and the 3D quality of this medal is very good especially under magnification.

Thank you again for your expertise!

        Best,

        Jeff
