Medal set

Don said I should post this set in the Imperial section, and I then remembered that I did some time ago.....but not to try to see if it could be attributed to anyone. That posting is here:
http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=136389
I also said it also had 2 EK1s, a screwback and a regular, and a SS honorary or supporting member numbered stick-pin. I still have all of those in separate displays. The two EK1s are still in a display, which I do not want to tear apart to photograph them closer. They are in the top left side of the frame below, the 2nd and 3rd down in the WW1 EK1 box. They are both vaulted and the 3rd one is a screw back, the 2nd is a pin back.
The next two photos are of the SS Honorary Member stickpin that was in the case, and the screw back EK1 (but only the front since I don't want to risk undoing the set up).
At one time I had the name and address of the vet I got the stuff from, but it and some other records and military things burned in a fire here in 1987, caused by the movers packing things for my move to Germany when I went back as a DAC Attorney-Advisor for the army in Northern Germany. I cannot remember what it was to try to contact him; however, he may be deceased now, or, more likely maybe, wouldn't know anything about who it belonged to.....since either he might have randomly looted it, or traded with another G.I. who did.
I don't know if the SS stickpin would help identify who might have had this set or not.
Thanks,
Ron

Super nice!
Hello Ron,
A really superb grouping.
There is nothing really unique about the medal bar alone that would make an ID feasible.
But taken together with the other decorations (and I would certainly believe that all of these items belonged to the same guy) the possibility of an ID is greatly increased. The Lippe Detmold War Honor Cross for Heroic Deeds was only awarded 740 times, so that alone greatly narrows the field. Then, how many of those 740 would have also had the 1914 Iron Cross, Lippe Detmold War Merit Cross, Imperial Silver Wound Badge, and no other Imperial decorations? Then, of the remaining possibilities, how many were on active duty in the Heer or Kriegsmarine in the late 30s? I have a feeling that with the right award rolls and rank lists, it could be narrowed down to a mere handful. Maybe even an ID could be made with a bit of a miracle. Unfortunately, the man most able to make an ID on this grouping (Rick Lundström) RIP has gone to medal heaven.
Best regards,

Looking again at the picture, it appears that the buttonhole ribbon bow and the four-place stickpin miniatures do not belong with this set. I have to wonder too about the Silver Wound Badge, since the lapel chain appears to have a Black Wound Badge.

I don't know about the buttonhole ribbon, I don't think the 4 place stickpin goes with it, but I think the silver wound badge does.......I think the wound badge on the chain is a really badly tarnished silver one instead of black.......unlike the one on the 4 place stickpin, which is definitely black on what appears to be brass....but I don't know for sure. I found years ago that vets grabbed up things often with no plan in mind and threw them together sometimes. Once I got an army dagger that the vet had put in a diplomatic/government officials scabbard because it looked better.
Thanks,
Ron
