A friend of mine who was on the floor at the auction shared the unbelievable hammer price with me this morning. He said everyone there was shocked, including the auctioneer. Auctions can be great, but this is the potential problem...all you need is two bidders who want an item equally, and you get ridiculous prices like this.



I am bummed because I wanted this bar for my own collection.

Oberst von Lattorff had an interesting and varied career, with both the Navy and Air force. Congrats to the new owner I say!

Fabulous!

Without a doubt, it's an outstanding ribbon bar. But even with the provenance I would never pay such a price. The matching medal bar for this one would be just awesome.
