Spanish Victory Medal: Awarded or just sold to anyone?

Hi, I'm not sure this is the right sub forum for non-German awards, but anyway:

What about this common Spanish medal issued to celebrate the Nationalist uprising and victory in the Spanish civil war? Some say it was awarded those who fought on the victorious side. According to other sources (like the 1939 newspaper add below) it was for sale to anyone for a few ptas (copper version) in order to raise money for some good cause...

I believe you are correct. Those who fought on the victorious side were awarded the Spanish Civil War Campaign medal.
