    Good eye, Claudio.

Thanks, Scott. You should try to make the Wilmington Show someday. If you ever decide to go we can also pay a visit to the U.S. Air Force Museum in Dayton.

        Best regards,
        Tom

Assuming this medal bar was assembled in 1939, I think we can find this chap. He was obviously a war Aspirant/officer who entered service in 1915-16, otherwise he'd have the 25 year cross by the cut off date.
He probably went regular in 1919 (but maybe he was a regular all along, which would make research even easier), but he's in the Weimar rank lists and Ill cross index with the Luftwaffe 1945 officers Ranklist. Id bet $1000 this guy ended up a General. I may even have a picture of him with this bar I got from Dave Danner @ 15 years ago.

Interesting the way the first four medals are laid out on the bar. The ribbons are folded in exactly the same manner. The Third Reich medals are not mounted in the same fashion and in my opinion not by the same person. Did this vet remove earlier awards, maybe two of them, to then have the final three mounted?

I think someone was working left to right and mismeasured the space taken up by medals.

So it was just sloppy work for a "senior" officer... I don't think so,,,,,,, Just my opinion.

It's not really sloppy. true, not as precise or exact as anything stereotypically made by a German, but they made errors and I think it's fine. I have literally dozens of photos of chaps wearing odder things than this ...some of which I think I may have bought from you.

Not to beat a dead horse here, the first medals are pre-Reich. The medals with differently tied ribbons, post Imperial. So I think it's just obvious some medals were removed and Reich medals applied. If not, then yes, it's just sloppy workmanship which is not possible, and no you didn't buy anything from me.

Really? You're not the photo guy from Seattle? sorry then . I don't get over here (WAF) often any more.
I disagree with you. I think it's fine. even from here the ribbons have that desiccated look that come from period aging. The catch looks spiffy too.

Look closely at the back. No less fake the one above, but upgraded, changed, to fit the occasion.

I'm not saying the one at the top was fake or anything like that, but it is definitely a "re-do". The one I just posted an "add on".

From the first medal after the war remembrance medal, completely different ribbon wrap.
