Help identifying a sash and ribbons

Hello everyone,
I have a friend who is trying to identify some items he has. He thinks the large sash is for a General and is WW2 vintage as well as the ribbons. Then there is a gorget and a couple of patches, it looks possibly french? Can anyone tell what these are? Thanks
