50 Yr Long Service cross Opinions

Hello to all,

I have been eyeing this one for some time and would like some of your opinions on her... I like her and she seems to conform to an original Deschler, however as we all know it is always best to get opinions before jumping in.

I have had my eyes out for one of these for some time now. This one is the first one I bellieve to be original. Many of these for sale dont meet the quality of 25/40 wich I think is a bad sign but this one looks great - I want it

I really liked it too, just needed that final nudge. And you are right, most of these out there don't meet the 25 or 40 year quality, I would agree, a bad sign...

Also not my speciality. I have one of these in my collection and will post it so you can compare it.

Based upon your pics I notice the following differences:

1. 50 is clearly thinner on your example
2. Same goes for the swas
3. the white case flocking is of a different design

I don't know if these are acceptable differences. I hope some more knowlegable members will come to the rescue

Does the ring on your example feature a maker mark?

I think I'd like to see better shots of the case to be honest, I think more than anything the quality of the pic is all distorted and jaggered by it being perhaps enlarged or something ???

On the cross, I'd have to say the thickness or rather lack (it's rather thin as Phil points out) of in the numeral 50 is a concern, the swaz......it's getting to late for these ageing eyes and dosen't help drinking a nice Australian red.


Here's my case maker mark for now and the numeral.....all taken under a crap lamp, hence they look yellow.

(the case I may be able to help you with, but the medal.....I'm to much of a novice)

Phils and mine maker marks look exactly the same, your pic differ's don't worry to much about that yet though.
