SS 8 year ribbon bar any good?

    Hi all!

I just picked up this SS 8 year ribbon bar on a flea market in Nice, France.

The seller (of course) stated the ribbon bar to be 100% genuine.

With the help from my iPhone I made a brief search here on the WAF and found a thread started by J C Gray: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=497220

I believe the one in question matches the one described by J C Gray as original and bought the ribbon bar, but since this is not my field at all, I could do with some help.

I know the pictures are not the best, but this is all I can manage at the moment.

So what do you think? Good ore bad?

    Regards,

    Sverre

Cant help you with the device. But the backing material is abnormally thick. Makes me think it was added later, maybe the original backing was removed so the SS device (good or bad) could be added?

Normally when I see SS bars I allways assume the are fake or at least pimped-up bars. But maybe its just my paranoia kicking in... The bar itself is good but lets here what other people think about the set up.

Backing does look a little plumper than normal.

It does look like one of the original type devices, but as stated above, the whole bar looks like it has been taken apart and then reassembled which would mean that, alas, it is not an original SS bar and therefore would only be worth the sum of its original parts. The same devices were also attached to stickpins for wear on civilian clothes...can you tell which type of attachment it has to the reverse? If it is a ribbon bar device it should have the centrally soldered split prong attachment, but it may be a cut down stickpin. I personally collect these ribbon bar devices attached or not, so if you want to pass it on or the seller won't give you a refund, give me a shout.

            Thank you for your thoughts.

I agree SS items it self is a mine field, but despite this should there how ever be eutectic pieces out there.

So, do any one have a 100% undisputed 8 year SS ribbon bar to compare it with?

            Anyone?

Thank you very much J C.
(Your reply was posted when I was writing my last reply).

The device it self has the centrally soldered split sprong identical to the one pictured in your previous thread. I tried to take a picture showing it, but with only my phone to help me with this was not possible.

I am absolute positive the seller will give me my money back if I told him the ribbon bar is a fake, but until I feel confident this is so, I won't. I donĀ“t collect ribbon bars so I will give passing it on a thought.

              Thank you.
