    olympic games decoration first class

here is a mint cased example of this extremely rare award. first class examples to general rank or above, less than 800 awarded! i have been fortunate to have owned a total of 4 of these, all cased, and each time i was able to upgrade to a finer conditioned cross/case. on the document side, i have only owned one first class document, to an SA GENERAL and POLICE PRESIDENT of HAMBURG. JOACHIM MEYER-QUADE. who was killed in action in the first week of the war as an infantry officer in poland.

            Hi Michael,

Beautiful piece! Congratulations on that fine acquisition. How nice to have owned four of these beauties. I would be happy just to get me a Second Class Decoration someday.

            Best regards,

                  Mike,

A stunning example, and in great condition.

Here are my own examples, 1936 & 1957. The cases are reproduction.

                  Kind regards

Pierce, very nice examples you have! I think most collectors never see these medals ,and unfortunately they seem to be missing from even the most advanced collections.
Emedals from Canada just sold an uncased first class in the $ 5,000.00 range!!
I can't remember the last time I saw one of these cased for sale other than Jason burmeister who had one three years ago at the max show.

True, they do not pop up for sale all that often.
I am fortunate enough to have an example of the 1st Class, 2nd Class, and the Medal (each on medal bars) but you are very lucky to have had at least 4 of these in your collection.

                      Kind regards

                        Olympic Games decoration first class

Of course, I never had more than one at a time, the first example was purchased at the old drawbridge ,Kentucky show in the late 1980s. It had some minor enamel damage , but was cased, and I paid $ 1,500.00 for it !
I sold that one a few years later and found a nicer example also cased, from Steve Wolfe . Also picking it up at the drawbridge show.
Sold that one to a big knights cross document collector who just "had to have one of those Olympic medals"
The third example, I found on the website of simpsons, the large gun dealer who just happened to have one for sale on their list of militaria.
This current example, the nicest conditioned of all the ones I have owned, was purchased in an Olympic memorabilia auction , and I must admit, was a very fair price considering what was being asked at the MAX show for one.

                          First class Olympic Games decoration

Thank you all , for the kind comments on the medal. I am happy to share photos of the order with you .
Does anyone have a complete list of those who were awarded the first class order? It would be nice to be able to find out how many Germans vs non Germans held this decoration.

I agree Michael, it would be great to know, but as far as I am aware there is no complete list available.
There may have been at some point though, as the exact number awarded is known.

                            Kind regards
