    Eismeer Front Medal

Came across this medal. Don't know a lot about it. And looking for any info on it. I think it was for troops in the Norway area?

Thoughts on this one and what is the value of this medal?

    Thanks,

Yes, I know its not the best but it was in a lot with about 10-12 other items.

What is the story on these? What were they given for? They can't be too common as I have only seen one or two around. Any idea of value of this one? I know its salty and no ribbon.

        Thanks

          Hello!

These are not in any way uncommon, the prices range between 80-150 €.

I Think Weitze has one or two for sale att the moment, at least he had a couple of weeks ago, and some other german dealers, of course these are more common in Europe than in the USA.

If I remember correctly these were sold in the Eismeer/Lappland front area during WW 2 as commemorative watch fobs, since they bear the edelweiss which is a sign of the Gebirgsjäger many related these to the Mountain troopers who served in that area. So one could call it a commemorative Watch fob for mountain troopers serving at the Eismeer front.

Maybe Simon.O can fill in some more details?
