Olympic medal and 12 years LS

    Hi guys,
Here is my recent finds. Before they going to collection, I would like to post them here, on the forum, just to be on the safe side.
Olympic medal is not magnetic and 12 LS is magnetic.
    Thanks in advance,
    Andrei

I have not a good knowledge on the olimpic medals but it looks ok. The 12 years medal is a very nice one!

          My books:

          - THE WEHRPAß & SOLDBUCH OF THE WH
          - THE SS TK RING
          - THE ITALIAN-GERMAN MEDAL

Is that rust on the Olympic medal? If it is, then you are using the magnet wrong.

12 year is good! I am no expert on the Olympic Medal but I know that these were usually made from iron- there may be exceptions.

              Kind regards

As they said the Long service medal are ok
About the Olimpic one, there is something strange (soft details, small flaws on obverse, this strange "rust" that seems as artificially aged, and the new ribbon with this old and rare pin recently attached). On the other hand, the main part of them were made with silvered tombak, so if it isn´t magnetic no problem.

                  Thanks guys for opinions.
Actually it's not "rust", looks like a kind of patina . IMO the Olympic medal has all originals marks, such as eagle head, rims on olympic circles, "dancing" letters......

Andrei, you are asking for our opinions. Yours was well known by yourself, and you must prevent that your prejudices blind to you.
We are just trying to help.
This "rust" is very similar to the express ageing made by forgers to give old apearence to the fakes. There are some small flaws that may mean casting procedures, and definitively the ribbon has been added to the medal recently. Maybe a good one, but oppinions from other experts on civil medals must be considerered before you close the thread if you want to be quiet in the future about this award.
One question: Is there a seam on the rim?

Thanks Gregorio. I am not going to close the tread, just wanted to say thanks for opinions.
In addition, there is no seam on the rim and the ribbon is negative in black light test.

One thing i noticed is the pattern on the pin.
It dosent mean anything when it comes to authenticity it but I have never seen that before... It looks quite nice, odd but nice.

                        /peter

Thank you Andrei. Sometimes, we wish to hear inmediatly that our items are good, and give our personal opinions not waiting for the quiet reasoning from the others. This personal opinion could "pollute" the test.
This kind of flaws (look the chest and the right wing (up-left) may appear for flaws from the original dies, and not necessarily indicates a casting origin, but everytime you must pay attention to this details when examining a piece.
The ribbon looks good, but clearly the pin was added recently (look the diferent aging of the pin and the ribbon, and look the modern thread used to sew it) the ribbon in itself looks added to the medal from a roll in the last times (even it isn´t displayed in the correct way with the ribbon folded ending in point and the ring placed on it across a small hole).
The soft details maybe peculiar of this maker, whom I don´t know.
                          Wait for more oppions

A suggestion, maybe post the Olympic Medal in the Political section of the forum?

                            Kind regards

EDIT: You are way ahead of me Andrei!

                              Medals.

Hi Andrei, No question that the 12 yr is legit. The Olympic Medal appears good overall but it does look like a replaced ribbon and pin mount. Could still be good Pre war ribbon though just added later.
