As Erwin Rommel's funeral was recorded by the state-owned UFA, a glimpse of his baton can be seen.

Sepp another outstanding idea for a thread. That photo on the last page of Milch holding his baton in 1972 is fantastic.

The original Luft. blue velvet on Milch's baton was damaged by fire.

Yes, I agree 100% as usual - a great thread. Please don't take my comments on Witzleben as negative to what you are doing - I just think it is very ironic what happened to him!

Finally a pic I had been looking for a while: the award ceremony of Generalfeldmarshall Werner von Blomberg, the first officer to be designated by Hitler and given the baton.

This took place on April 20th, 1936

Keitel and Raeder trying very hard not to fall asleep. Their batons at sight.

Baton-holder Göring and Admiral Raeder (before he was appointed Grossadmirall, in 1939).

The Air Marshal is carrying his first model of baton.

Nice to see the side of von Brauchitsch's baton, as we often get Keitel in every ceremony for the army.

Great photo with definition on Milch's baton.
