    How to recognize the Africa medal

    Hi guys, here something I think helpful for our collectors community.
    In my researches I've identified all the different patterns of the Italo-German medal for the african campaign.

    I've worked on some pictures to facilitate the understanding of the different types, highlighting the characteristic points of each.
    Here a small summary of what I think important to recognize these medals.

    First characteristic to see: the maker mark (LORIOLI MILANO):
    - type 2, 3 and 4 have it on the left side;
    - type 1 and 5 on right;
    - type 6 don't has it.

    Second characteristic: the artist's name (DE MARCHIS):
    - Type 1 is in relief (short writing);
    - type 2 is in relief (long writing);
    - type 3 is in relief (long writing);
    - type 4 is engraved;
    - type 5 is in relief with the "short M";
    - type 6 don't has it.

    Third characteristic: the upper part of the "ara" (altar) on top of the Arch of Fileni.

    Fourth characteristic: the Savoy node.

    Type 1: LORIOLI
    Made from Lorioli (Milan)
