    12 years service medals

    Good day!
bought a medal, the photo did not cause rejection, but when she arrived on the edge of the cavity were found. Magnetic material, the diameter of the same over the edges and match the diameter of the normal long-service medal, only 4 years old. Ringing is also present. tell me everything is okay with this medal
    Thanks for opinions

            Hello,

I agree with Nick and Ross. The medal looks good to me. IMO, the imperfections visible on this medal are due to impurities in the iron. That medal was obviously die-struck, so the pitting is not any kind of defect from a crude casting process.

Also, when you enlarge/magnify images to this degree, even the best-made medals will display all sorts of imperfections. We need to remember that these medals were made to be worn on a uniform by soldiers and not meant to be viewed under microscopes by collectors. Medals are meant to look good from a distance with the unaided eye.

            Best regards,
            Tom

I'm with the guys, a 100% die struck and origina medal.
Happy to see some magnifications like these you posted.

                I don't know I'd need some closer 'close-ups'

Joking aside, a nice looking medal.
