It looks really good, lots of silver there. Have to ask a maybe stupid question though. Isn't this the 2nd class? Or was this the 1st class before 1943?

I think you are right as this is a 2nd class with swords. Not sure what the swords siganifies? Anyone know?

It was given to foreign military personnel WITH swords, ex. Olof Thörnell commander of the Swedish armed forces, I think Mannerheim, the Finnish ditto also recived it. To civilians, WITHOUT swords, ex. Henry Ford, Charles Lindbergh, various heads of state etc.

Nice badge Eric! FWIW, here's Charles Lindburgh's set - it was part of a travelling Lindburgh exhibit at the St. Louis History Museum.
