from what I can see of the ribbons, they might be modern replacements.

The ribbons are replacements. The originals were pretty much shredded and wouldn't do in a display setting.

Dear Mr. Scapini;Prehaps because you come from the same part of the old country as my folks did i wanted to ask you about the Service Awards of the SS.I have many copies of "THE MILITARY ADVISOR" mostly from the 90s.The issue from the fall of 1993 has a great article on the 4,8,12,25 year awards including two photos of Himmler's medal bar and the case for them.In the text the author states that the four and eight year awards were 38 MM in diameter and 3 MM thick!In your experience have you come apon original pieces that were off a MM or so?Realizing the machines that the Germans used were not always exactly the same.My 8 year hits the marks that i stated above.My digital camera has seen better days and is 10 years old,so closeups are not possible anymore and i am looking for a camera not so cumbersome and they are numerous now and when i purchase it i will send photos of the 8 year SS medal.Carl

Hi Carl, in my experience all the SS 8 years medals of the type II have a diameter of 3,8-3,81 cm, and a thickness around 3mm.
I don't remember the measurements of the type II, but if I'm not mistaken measurements are the same.

The mold used for these medals were at least 2, you can see the two types we recognized as originals in this thread:
