Silver Mother Cross with issue packet

    Hello to all,
Here is a nice Mother Cross in silver that I picked up a few months ago. The issue packet is maker marked to Ferd. Hoffstätter of Bonn. I like the clasp attachments that have been added to the ribbon ends. Kind of unusual to see this. Usually the ribbon ends are found sewn together. I have also seen them simply tied together, and once I owned one with a snap attachment.
    Best regards! Tom

              Nice

Nice Cross, never seen that on an end before, ive got one with the snap ends, but my others are all just loose. I wonder was this something the women would have added at home?

                Hey Dan,
I think you are probably right about this. The attachment devices were probably added by the recipients, and they used whatever attachment hardware they had available or had preference to. I can't imagine anyone else doing this. Any German woman who rated the Mother Cross was most likely very skilled with a needle and thread.
                Best regards! Tom
