    40 Year LS Heer/Kreigs Luft

Just a heads up to be careful when purchasing 40 Year LS Crosses.

Here are 3 Wreaths from my collection.

Two are closed and one is the open type.

In my humble opinion only one of them is good.

Tough to tell from the photographs as they were taken at night.

I will add separate shots of each one tomorrow when it is light.

In hand comparing them you would know right away which one is the good one
just by the finish. There is also a small size difference.

Only it is good the one that is in the first plane.

You can't really tell from the photographs but the original sparkles in the sunlight because of the burnishing used in its manufacture.

Sort of like the sparkles strippers use if you know what I mean.

                  Hi Wayne,

No. 1 is great looking, especially when you compare with the others.

Could No. 2 be a 57er piece? Is that an S&L maker mark I see?

                  Best regards

Both the bright wreaths appear to be 57'ers.

There is what appears to be a raised circle on the one you indicated.

Then surely all the wreaths are "good". Just from different time periods.

So how do you tell the difference between a fake and a 57er wreath?

                      Best regards

For me it is the finish mostly. There are other small differences.

Thanks Wayne. I have yet to take the plunge with one of these but if I do I'll be seeking your opinion.

This is another one, different from all these posted from Wayne. This pictures are not mine, but I don't remember who send them to me for my book about all the German awards... (Sorry if I don't credit the owner!)

I think these LS 40 "crosses" are hard to judge, but I tend to agree with Wayne for his pieces. Not sure if the finish can be "the proof" to distinguish the '57er from the originals period done.

Looking at the wreath on this cross I do not get the warm fuzzies.

Too me it looks like a 57'er.

                              Just my opinion.
