    Anschluss medal

    Need opinions on this one.

I dont like the thin and crooked letters, they are wery sloppy. Just look at the word "REICH" and also the different R´s in REICH and FUHRER. But the front looks good so I wanna know that you think of it, would you feel comfortable with it? Note also this is the short chain variant.

So Im I paraniod or what? Normally I would pass on this but Im interested in your thoughts about it.

P.S. Sorry for the blurry picture. Dont look at it for more then a couple of seconds or you will get a massive headache. Unless you are drunk this friday evening, then the picture is probably in perfect focus.

It is a very nice original and rare Schickle.
If I were you I would buy it immediately.

I can only agree with Antonio. A Schickle for sure.
Stan (WAF/GCA/GMIC member) and I was lucky to discover the match with the Memel version with a wartime Schickle catalogue.
There are some unique feature on both sides of the Memel that matches exact with the Schickle catalogue.

The unique feature of the obverse side is the chains on the wrist of the guy to the left. Schickle is the only one that has this design of chains.

        Send you a PM.

Very interesting, I know that Assmann had this short chain variant but the letters dident match up with "my" medal.

I cant find good pics of the flower war section in the Schickle catalog. If someone has that please post it here.

          Here is the Assmann:

Until today this is the only evidence of Assmann production I found (thanks to a friend who let me use these pictures): a 1 Oktober medal with box.
It doesn't match with the period catalogs picture.

The back side of the Medal you posted match better with the Schickle production.

PS: Can you post the complete page with the "Flower war Medals" of the Asmmann catalog?

That is the normal long chain medal, are you sure that the medal belongs to that Assmann box?

              Here is the Assmann pic:

This is the only one I found in relation with Assmann. I'm not 100% sure, this medal came from family with this box, and this box is ok for the flower war medals.
I have some others made from Deumer,... matching with this.
The reason why I asked the page is because there are no evidence until now that Assmann produced the 3 "Flower war Medals". It's my opinion that never start the "little" production for only the 1 Oktober medal and bought it from other firms. Instead we know for sure Shickle made them.
It wuold be interesting however do a more in deep research about the Sudetenland and Austrian medals, because a lot of makers did them.

You made indeed a very nice catch vonPeter!
And maybe this can be a starting point for you to begin a research about the flower medals... If you start it I have some very interesting medals to show you, interesting because are "strange" but 100% originals...

You may be right there Antonio, I found a picture of a memel medal from the Shickle catalog and the obverse looks like a match with the Anschluss from the Assmann catalog.
Unfortunatly the pic I found has a watermark from another militaria forum so I would probably get angry mails if I posted it here.

Btw, is Shickle the only known maker to have the short chain?

No Peter, also the so called "Scrheiber" has a so short chain done in the same way.
The Petz & Lorenz too use a different chain from all the other makers, but it is longer than the one used from Schickle.
                    I show it to you!

The one I posted is a Petz & Lorenz first pattern, the second has the same design but looks a bit different.
