mini-medals and devices

check out these mini-medals a friend brought round to show me. The devices ended up staying with me!
They seem to be unfinished, some without loops, and the devices without the attachment pins. Maybe looted from the factory as souvenirs?
I'd be interested in your opinions...

I forgot to show anything for size with the mini-medals, but here's the spainish cross device against an EK, so they're pretty small, and the detail was amazing. The west wall basically looked like a full size one under the loupe...

Seeing as the 5 bigger ones are 2 sided, they're most likely for buttoniers or chains.

The others are most likely for stickpins or maybe ribbon bar devices, with the exception of the EK which is definitely a ribbon bar device.

My guess would be for a stickpin.
It also obvious that several of these missed the silvering process.

oh, I thought just for the ribbon bars, but you're probably right. I was just going by the EK one...
They seem to have all been gilded, but you're right again, a couple of these should be silver? why gild them first? Do you think they may be for a display board, or salesman's examples?

If I'm not mistaken, many devices start out life gilded & then have the silver or bronze applied later.

I'm sure Rick would know better than I would though.
