Ribons with different sizes

Hello friends,

Any know why exist ribons with different sizes?

one 3cm and the other 2.5cm (approximately)

I see this ribons in merit cross, ostmedaille.

Under black light test are ok, but why have diferent sizes?

here for example the ostmedaille ribon. in two versions.
