Austrian Ribbon Bar Device- Opinions & Rarity...

I had this posted in another thread w/some other items but was getting no responses, so here it is by itself.

From what I can tell it matches the bronze Czech example in the device section in Rick's Ribbon Bar article.

Basically what I would like to know is:

1. Is it a real period example?

2. How rare or common/uncommon is it?

Having seen a few of the Czech ones, this silver Austrian version was a first for me & I was happy to add this to my collection.

Are there any period photos showing these "fashion statements" in wear?

Yes-I have seen a number of period photos of these devices-esp. the Austrian one, being worn.

Recently...

... I sold on eStand a Memel ribbon and device from a broken ribbon bar. Obvious original and together since made as the ribbon was quite faded, except under the little device. Now that one is pretty darn scarce!

If this one is scarce, how rare is a Memel example!?!
