    Ribbon bar opinions please

A mate has just bought this ribbon bar. Could someone please help identify the 8th ribbon with the Turkish crossed-sword devices. I presume the next is the Turkish War Medal (Halbmond).

Also, why aren't there any long service awards?

Thanks for any assistance and comments.

    Hi Mike,

    A stunning original ribbon bar!

The 8th ribbon is for the Turkish Liakat Medal.

    Kind regards

      Thanks, Pierce.

Do you have any theories on the lack of a long service award? I would have thought a fellow with that length of service would qualify for at least for a 4 and 12 year.

        Hi Mike,

        Great ribbon bar.

With so many prestigious medals won over, what is obviously many years of service, perhaps the owner saw it unneccessary to display LS awards, when the campaign medals speak for themselves Just a theory

Thanks, Alan. Your theory has merit.

            Hi Mike,

Not everyone was entitled to long service awards. For example I think reserve officers would not have gotten them.

This could be the ribbon bar of a recalled officer.

            Kind regards

              Hi Mike,

Your mate got that one from me. When I first started collecting ribbon bars, finding Luftwaffe examples were extremely difficult. As I was looking for longer examples, I also picked up pieces like this that were not branch-specific.

              It's a beauty!
