LW 6-er Ribbon Bars EK2, LS, 3 Flower Wars and ?

    Hello All,

I picked this pair up because of the Memel ribbons, but I am curious as to what the light blue (not cornflower) ribbon is at the end. The thinner bar was definitely the more used of the two. It appears the EK2 ribbon on the larger bar snags on the hinge device from the reverse, and is what caused the unfortunate "pulls."

    All comments are welcome.

    Thank you!

    Eric

      Hi Eric,

Interesting ribbon bars to say the least.

It was forbidden that all three Flower Wars ribbons be worn together (unless you were Himmler, Kietel, etc) even though a number of personnel were awarded all three.
This is the second ribbon bar in as many weeks that I have seen with this combination of all three worn together....the other bar was also Luftwaffe and had some foreign awards.

The last ribbon is pertaining to be something foreign, most likely Italian Bravery Medal, or a Yugoslavian Crown Order on the wrong shade of blue ribbon, etc.

      Kind regards
      Pierce

        Pierce,

Thanks for the comments. Do the ribbon bars look OK as is, or is it just coincidence you've seen a couple examples with all three Flower Wars?

I thought the last might be Hungarian - but, hopefully someone will chime in.

        Regards,

        Eric

          Hi Pierce,

"It was forbidden that all three Flower Wars ribbons be worn together ..."

Where I can find this regulation(s) in primary sources?

            Hi Uwe,

I have often read that that was the case. Is it not?

You are the man with the sources.

              Hi Eric,

The last ribbon may represent the "1913 Serbian Medal For Zealous Service".

I say "may" because I have had a very quick look but cannot find reference of the medal being awarded in WW2 but here is an example of the gold grade of this medal mounted on a Luftwaffe medal bar. Someone on the International Forum may be able to confirm when this medal ceased being awarded and if this combination is possible.

But for now it is another to add to the list!

              Kind regards
              Pierce
