Ribbon Bar Award Order - Plausible?

Hi All -

Bought this denazified bar for display on a tunic. I am assuming the second "EKII" ribbon is for the HHO, but could it plausibly come AFTER the War Merit Cross, or is that a no no?

Any help much appreciated!

Hi Don,

It could also be for the Prussian Military Merit Cross/Medal.

The War Merit Cross always ranked 2nd after the Iron Cross and there before any other Imperial State award/decoration so the order is correct.

There is no indication that the wearer was Austrian or a colonial veteran, so not likely thr Military Decoration (Militär-Ehrenzeichen). So probably the Military Merit Cross (Militär-Verdienstkreuz), the so-called "Pour le Mérite for NCOs and enlisted men".

The order may be correct but personally I do not like it.

A little too clean for me and you would think loose threads would have long ago disappeared on something that is 70+ years old.

As well the wear/petina on the denazified parts does not match up with the ribbons and X-swords and backing.

However, it is is perfectly ok to throw on a tunic, as long as it is post 1957, when wear of any TR medals was again allowed.

I suspect whomever took a grinder to the swazzes had something to do with the patina on the devices...
