Hi Guys...I have started this thread after seeing a pic of Franks fathers black WB which he put up in reply to another members question. We have all seen and no doubt owned many black WBs in brass and steel but a few months ago I found a copper one (or at least it was copper colour) with the pin in brass. Anyone else seen one of these? I didnt buy it, but the finish and detail were good. Frank suggests it may have been a bad one, and I would tend to agree, but having said that I am aware that the EK1 1939 have been found with copper cores and 100% original.

black wound badge in copper?

I have only ever seen one badge struck in copper and that had no finish left on it at all. I didn't buy it but it looked ok at the time. There is a copper black wound badge in Chris Ailsby's 'World War 2 German Medals' book which has a solid plate soldered to the back with a tinnie like pin attachment. I think that these probably do exist as original badges but are very few and far between.
