Edelweissring - 1. Gebirgsjägerdivision, Mountain Troop ring...

    Hello,

got a nice little convolut from a veteran of the
    Gebirgsjäger-Pionier-Bataillon 54...

Whats your opinions about this ring,
    its not the original case...?

    Best regards,
    Koeti

In my opinion, the markets are flooded with reproduction pieces. There will always be doubt if this is a real one. If you indeed got this first hand from the veteran, then you know it's authenticity. For me, a nice piece but one that will always keep my suspicions up as a possible copy/cast reproduction.

ha ha, I say the same thing about badges and medals!

This is a well known wartime semi official pattern ring.
Many with direct German vet provenance along with entry in Soldbuch and award documents.
,,,while a often copied pattern this one has the proper looking stamped in hallmark and good looking natural wear to it. My vote a good one..

Nice! I used to own the award document for the ring. Wish I kept it. Jim

Interesting, there is always something to know and learn. I was unaware that an unofficial award (the GJ ring) was ever commented about in a Soldbuch or other type of documentation.
I attempted to do a search of the forums and was unable to see an example, If anyone has a link that shows this case in point, I would appreciate a link to the said topic.
                    Best regards,
                    JustinG

I have 2 examples of them in soldbuchs but do not have permision to use here.
I also own and have seen more listed on 'Death Cards',,, and of course the award docs shown here... They are nice Semi Official ring pattern of the 3rd reich...
