    Afrika campaign medal in silver

There is a silver Afrika campaign medal on e-stand that I would like to discuss. The medal appears to be original and the ribbon is repro (as usual), but I'm not sure about the silvering... What do you think about it?

    Here is a thread:

    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=598873

MM is on the left side and it was said here before that "this type is not seen" ... yet?

    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...iew+%28zink%29

Is this something new that we still do not know about...?

I would like to know if this campaign medal was issued in two classes (bronze and silver) or this was just a variation of the same... Does any one have an explanation?

Also, I have heard before that this medal was produced in Germany for some period of time; is it true?

Thanks in advance for your answers!

    Cheers,
    GbJ

The medal was prduced only in Italy, from wath I know.

Never existed the silver medal, and never authorised the production.

No problem about the position of the maker mark, you can find it on left or right.

The silver medal we are talking about (from estand) is a fake, probably one of the last produced in these years.

    My books:

    - THE WEHRPAß & SOLDBUCH OF THE WH
    - THE SS TK RING
    - THE ITALIAN-GERMAN MEDAL
    - THE ANTI PARTISAN BADGE
    - THE AWARDS OF THE LW

    and more!

I don't like this "silver" one, but just would like to mention, that they were produced from some kind of white metal and our Italian colleges can prove this.
I saw 2 of them and posted pics below.

Thanks, guys! So, what is the conclusion regarding this medal on e-stand, is it original or "pimped" fake?

The 2 shown pieces in this thread are originals in my opinion.
These silver ones are not another "class", only variations of the same. As far as I know, nobody really could tell us, why they were produced in bronce and silver.
I have 3 bronce ones and also 3 silver ones (different materials), all from privat. Not one of the veterans (3 of them were alive, when I got the medals) knew something about the medals themselves or why he got it in "bronce" or "silver". In one citation the medal is even called "Libyen-Medaille"...

              Kind regards,

              Peter
