            RAD cap badge

            hello,

It looks like a tradition cap badge (RAD traditionsabzeichen) for "arbeitsgau 5 Pommern-West (West Pomerania). Although this one is probably not an original. This sort of badge is still beïng made by some juweller's today. The original badge has a flat back with maker's mark.
Anyway its a very beautiful badge!

              Hi,

M.Lupus have you commented on the correct thread as imo this can not be a cap badge due to it;s size 'i think' .
              All the best Merdock

The pinback assembly looks very American-made (especially the locking catch). Possibly costume jewelry?

                  Correct thread

                  Hello Merdock,

Although i'm a new member I'm very sure this is the correct thread . The badge has been worn by the RAD. A picture can be seen in "labor organisations of the third Reich" by Angolia and Littlejohn page 391. As far as I know of I can't post a picture on this forum because i'm not a full member. Sorry!!!
I have seen an original badge, but it's back is flat. And it's not made of silver as your badge/photo is. I also has no gold finish. As I can remember the badge is about 40mm x 35mm.

It think your photo shows a badge that's made for tourists. They still make them today! By the way, did you buy the badge?

                  Regards, Lupus

                      Hello,

Lupus is correct these types of badges were worn on the side of a RAD robin hood style cap as a gau traditions badge, there are 13 different designs for 13 different gaus,I have a few pictures in my files i will try to find them and post them for you,as far as it being original i have never come across this type of badge so i cant say,i did not know they were still being made today, that is helpfull information Lupus!are you sure all tradition badges of this type were maker marked?
