SS 8 Year- Weird Lighting or Fake

I cannot see the chequered textured surface and the runes do not look so sharp to me, is it me or the lighting in the pics?

Also another beat up one, but it looks crap to me.

Pardon me, but i recall seeing round ring versions in some makers original catalogues. I am sure many of the round ringed versions are in fact re pops, but all round ring versions, cannot all be fakes if they made them in the war years with round rings. Who here has a period catalogue from any maker with a round ring 8 year shown?

The first SS medals had round rings (photographed in the Doehle books), but they are exceedingly rare. I have never seen one and I don't think one has ever been posted here in the forum.

Can it be found some proof of the round rings?

A picture from P&L catalogue was presented on GCA some times ago and I think it´s a tricky field.

Check out the shadow areas...it doesn´t match...
