18-Year Long Service Cross by W.B.

    Hello guys,

Here is a Wehrmacht 18-Year Long Service Cross with its original glassine packet. The packet is so brittle and the cross is so nice that I hate to even touch this set. Think I better put it away and leave it alone.

    Best regards,
    Tom

Very nice Tom! This is a great medal! You certainly have the sense for finding great things!

I checked the GMIC maker mark thread and WB is stated as UNKNOWN still...

                Thank you,
                Scott

Tom, In post #3 it looks like there might be a maker mark stamped on the ring?

Thanks to all for the comments! Oh, and both the cross and eagle device are iron (magnetic).

                    Best regards,
                    Tom

                      Hello Kondor,

I see exactly what you are referring to. However, there is no maker marking on the suspension ring. What appears like an incuse-relief mark is merely the frosted finish on that part of the ring. Sure would have been nice, though!

                      Best regards,
                      Tom

Well, Tom, you just can't get better really than the examples you've shown over the last day or two, the packets are preserved very well!!

Now as to this unknown W.B maker, I could have sworn on one the forums' there had been a potential maker revealed. So, I've searched for the last hour odd, to no avail.

I also searched the '14-18 Honour Cross maker marks in addition and Imperial maker marks, again, with no result Even my list of the ''unknown'' makers retrieved from earlier West Wall and ''Flower'' packets. However, I could have easily missed something.

                            Kind Regards,

                            Marcus
