-I have to wonder if I see this badge on offer now if the person who asked for an opinion originally in January and learned that it is a fake is now trying to sell it as an original badge with the same pictures.

-it may be worse, somebody stole the pics from this site and is offering a badge he does not even own. This has happened before.

I hoped Shane could give me an explanation why these pics were discussed already in January.

I am sorry if I hurt anybody´s feelings with my comment. I am just staying alert for our community.
    Frank,

Thanks for the clarification and staying astute.

      Hey Frank, no feelings Hurt

As for why these pics were already discussed in January, well that is not my department, I never even knew that this piece was already discussed. There are many a member here and I am sure someone else stumbled accross this same badge and decided to ask questions similar to my own.

Here is the site I got the pics from:
      http://www.warelics.com/Medals.htm

I had also asked about this dealer in the Collector Community Forum, and seems like a lot of people were on the fence about them so I decided to just forget about all his stuff, as I won't take risks with that kind of money (Can't afford to at 24 years of age.)

That is about as much light as I can shed on the issue, as that is all I have to offer.

If I had half the stuff this guy has on his site I'd be a happy camper

Hope this helps, I think the first thing that set the little alarm in my head off was the construction of the web site. Very Exotic Expensive Items, and a site that is... ...very bland to say the least.

He has a DK in diamonds right above the GPB!

The 12 year SS medal below it looks legit (not sure about the ribbon).

          I too saw that DK!

If it were real, boy what a find! Notice the price is not listed, that is like going to a sea food restaraunt for lobster only to find the words "Market Price" beside it.

Think I read somewhere that they were about $70,000.00 or so their estimated value was listed as.

Any clues what these really go for if ever on the market?

          -Shane

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but the badge discussed here, along with a stack of copies of documents related to the awardee, sold today at Ratisbon's. Though the high bidder should have done his/her due diligence, he/she may want to take John's (RIP) assessment into consideration.
