    NSDAP Golden Party Pin

There was a time when I would have known what forum to post this in, now I can't seem to figure it out.

Any opinions on this NSDAP Golden Party Pin?

Are the letters in gold? They are supposed to be silver. Or has the silver plating worn off?

At any rate, the letters don't look like they are the right size.

Thanks guys, I checked out the site and it is a very valuable tool! Is there anyone on this forum I should contact to get a personal opinion? Someone who "really knows their stuff" when it comes to party badges. I trust all your opinions, and yes I do see the silver missing in the lettering, but for future reference who is THE be-all-end-all when it comes to party badge knowledge?

Thanks again for the answers guys, I'm still looking for one of these so every little bit of help counts.

              I don't know if there is a "be-all-end-all" -- it certainly isn't me.

But, compare the letters on yours to this one posted by George Stimson a while back.

Also, are there swirl marks inside the numbers on the back?

Can someone comfirm that Deschler changed or did not change they way they made their letters during their production run?

You might want to take a look at this one, too:

                    Hi Shane Bennett,

I am sorry to say that I don't like the Gold Party Badge #56515 as shown.

A few of the defects are,

                    * Very unclear and poorly defined planchet obverse.
                    * Unclear Ges Gesh cartouche impression and uneven cartouch outline edges.
                    * Non-regular numerals and their non-regular application.
                    * Finish or coloring appears to be incorrect but, with digital photos reproduced by a computer can be inaccurately depicted.

As always, computer photographs are difficult to accurately assess.

These are just a few of my initial negative observations without divulging more to the bad guys.

Should you have any further questions or thoughts feel free to contact me back.

I am always glad and most willing to discusss Gold Party Badges as well as other areas of my interest with all.

                    Best regards,

                    John Pepera

This exact same badge with the exact same pictures has been discussed and agreed to be fake in January this year.
                        Cheers, Frank

Oh! Sorry guys didn't mean to wast everyone's time, but you know how it is when you find an item for sale, you do as much research as you can, and then ask for opinions. Thank you so much John, I will be looking for a party badge again in a few months, and if I find one would you mind if I PM'd you about it?

                          Thanks to all!

                          -Shane

                            Frank,

Thanks for the enlightenment but, what's your point?

                            Shane,

You were absolutely no bother or a waste of time to me. As I said, I am most glad and willing anytime.

                            John

                              John,

                              My point is:

-I saved the pics of the fake badge in January 2004 for my future reference.

-unfortunately I did not save any info where they came from in January

-I have to wonder if I see this badge on offer now if the person who asked for an opinion originally in January and learned that it is a fake is now trying to sell it as an original badge with the same pictures.

-it may be worse, somebody stole the pics from this site and is offering a badge he does not even own. This has happened before.

I hoped Shane could give me an explanation why these pics were discussed already in January.

I am sorry if I hurt anybody´s feelings with my comment. I am just staying alert for our community.
                              Cheers, Frank
