    Hello!

I would like to get some opinions about this badge !
    Thanks!

From these pictures everything looks fine, although I would like to see some close ups of the stippling. Interestingly, this is the first example from this particular maker that I have seen with the misaligned reverse die.

Agree. It seems to be ok, but some better shots would be better!

      My books:

      - THE WEHRPAß & SOLDBUCH OF THE WH
      - THE SS TK RING
      - THE ITALIAN-GERMAN MEDAL
      - THE ANTI PARTISAN BADGE
      - THE AWARDS OF THE LW

      and more!

          J C,

Ive seen a few with the misaligned die characteristic.

Would this have been a common mistake in medal manufacturing? I have never actually studied any other awards apart from the SS-Dienstauszeichnung and it seems to be a pretty common occurrence with the alleged "P&L"type 8 years and to a lesser extent the 4 years, but I've never (until now) seen it on an alleged "Deschler" type.

              Hi JC,

Ive actually got an almost identical version of the example posted.
I also focused on these for some years and its not actually that unique a phenomana.Perhaps 1 in every 7th "8" year medal has it.There have been a few posted from time to time on here and hopefully those threads may still be available.

I know looking at this error from a present day collectors eye it is a mistake but i wonder if it was viewed this way during the period, as the medals with this flaw are identical to their non flawed brothers except for this anomaly. So, visually its only a problem to us collectors with our over analytical, questioning eyes. The other thing is, for a medal that presumably wasnt produced that long i wonder if these flawed pieces were produced during the transition period when they were replaced by the Wehrmacht long service awards and were never critqued for issue as they were superseded and simply put aside for for eventual meltdown/recycling.

Bill Shea has nice example with this anomaly= Item M-008A
