    13-place ribbon bar

    Just thought I would show you another ribbon bar from my collection. I got this interesting 13-place with the help of a good friend in the US.
    In my opinion ribbon bars of former Austrians with Wehrmacht long service decorations are hard to come by. I hope you like it.


    -Österreichische Tapferkeitsmedaille
    -Österreichische Verdienstkreuz am Kriegsband
    -Österreichische Karl-Truppenkreuz
    -Österreichische Verwundetenmedaille Österreich Verwundetenmedaille für 1 Wunde
    -Ehrenkreuz des Weltkrieges für Frontkämpfer
    -Österreichische Kriegserinnerungsmedaille mit Schwertern auf dem Bande
    -Dienstauszeichnung der Wehrmacht für 18 Jahre - Heer
    -Dienstauszeichnung der Wehrmacht für 4 Jahre - Heer
    -Österreichische Militärdienstzeichen
    -Österreichische Tiroler Landesdenkmünze
    -Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 13. März 1938
    -Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 1. Oktober 1938
    -Ungarn Kriegserinnerungsmedaille

            Very nice bar!! The first two ribbons can actually mean many combinations - two bravery medals, signum laudis and bravery, 2 signum laudis (rare combination, but possible), MVK and signum laudis or MVK and bravery medal (scarcer combo, again). Do you know the combination from the owner?

            #9 is probably 1912-13 mobilisation cross - it would be strange for one to have both 3R and AH long service ribbons - in 3R period, austrian long service (I believe) counted for WH long service?

              Nice bar, I believe that it belonged to an Austrian NCO later transfered in the Wehrmacht
              The first 2 ribbons are for bravery medals, probably a bronze and a silver 2nd class. If they were for a KVK or Signum Laudis, they should had the swords. #9 must be for a long service cross in the austrian army.

                  Unfortunately I know nothing about the original wearer of this ribbon bar. I agree with you that the first two ribbons could represent any of the above. There is just no way of knowing for sure.

                  No. 9 can be for the Austrian Long Service decoration and these were sometimes wore in conjunction with the Wehrmacht Long Service decorations. There are some nice examples posted on this forum.

                        Ironcrown, Pierce, thank you for explanation. There should be swords for MVK or SL indeed, but it is not impossible they would be omitted (as we have bars with swords added where they should not be). But as MVK and SL were awards only to officers, the first two are most likely bravery medals. I agree this combination is most likely an NCO - I just wanted to point out that Austrian "generic" war ribbons can mean many things.
