Come to think of it .. I've either seen this one posted before or there was another one just like it. The flattened features on the obverse are familiar (I think).

        It's a good one IMO.

        Cheers,

I have picked up about 50 of these out here in New Zealand over the years. They were a common bring back by Kiwi soldiers. Many were still in their packets. Some however were in the garage or the " man shed " as we call it out here. One I got was in the veterans tool box ( you tell me why but it had been there for years ). Another, the vet carried in his small change purse for 30 years after the war ( again god knows why ).

The point I am making is that they looked like this after a hard life for some reason beyond normal collector handling. Another good example is putting it on a buffer to make it shine.

This has happened over the 70 years since the war. When I first started collecting British badges while a child at school, my older brother told me to leave them in pure vinegar over night to make them shine. Sadly being a kid and not knowing what I know now, I did. This is how it happens.

In the 1960's & 1970's, many wore medals around their necks in the " Hippie " and " Bikie " era of popular western culture.

God knows why that medal is worn down but it is 101% original. Keep in mind however that it is not worth what an excellent untouched example is worth,

          Chris

Sorry it took me so long to get back on this one guys. Been very busy. I do believe this one was bad. It was since sent back to the seller no questions asked and I have recieved a full re-fund. I am sorry about the bad pictures but everything about it once in hand was worrysome. The suspension ring had some type of ugle "spill over" and was warped. The detail on the medal throughout was soft and it seemed small. The ribon on it was also for sure a post war. Had to send it back. Was just not for me.

It sure was an ugly thing.

Good or bad (I still say bad) you did the right thing to send it back as you clearly wasnt satisfied with it.
There are plenty of textbook examples out there so there is no need to buy questionable medals, especially not when they come with bad ribbons.
