    5-Place Ribbon Bar

I don't often post photos of my new acquisitions (there are generally a number arriving every week and I would not have the time) but I thought the condition of this 5-place ribbon bar particularly nice and wanted to share it with you.

-Preußen Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse 1914 am Kämpferband
    -Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern
    -Ehrenkreuz des Weltkrieges für Frontkämpfer
    -Dienstauszeichnung der Wehrmacht 4 Jahre
    -Österreich Militär-Verdienstkreuz / Franz-Joseph-Orden

    Kind regards
    Pierce

I wish you would share with us more often.

Two things immediately attracted my attention on this one

    1. The maker was a little sloppy, one peg of the sword-device is sticking out
    2. The two end-pieces has different color prongs then the others, isn´t that very unusual?
If i saw this bar i would pass on it thinking that someone had tampered with it. Considering that you know more then me about ribbon bars (ALOT more) i would most likely be wrong.

Ok..........the 2-place ribbon bar is a put-together in my opinion- ribbons are 1914 Iron Cross and 1939 War Merit Cross. The second item is a 1939 Iron Cross parade-mount.

          Hi Peter,

You have a good eye. I noticed this too but it doesn't bother me at all. There are no scratches around the tabs so it all seems period to me. It definately has not been tampered with.

Thank you for your comment. I may post more from my collection in the coming weeks.

          Best regards
          Pierce

Thanks very much, it's great to find out what they are, just one question is their any value on them? especially the one you feel is a put together? if it is genuine

That is the worst case of thread-hijack i've ever seen. In under 30 minutes someone tries to take over the thread.

With all do respect, maybe you should start your own thread Furher?

                  Hi Pierce,

Nice bar! The most helpful thing (for me, at least) is when there are anomalies like in the piece - like the differences in the backing prongs, in this case. The fact that there are no scratches, indicating tampering/replacement, is all part of the detective work. Which is part of what makes this hobby fun!

                  Thanks for sharing, Pierce,

                  J-
