Close Combat Clasps Colors?? Bronze, Silver or Gold

Hello group... I just joined this group and hope to contribute by answering some questions and also enter into good discussions with new friends..

I have two CCC's and I do not know if they are bronze, silver or gold? Me and my wife have compared to pictures and its amazing how we bicker over these.. LOL.. If anyone has any idea on how to know what the designation is please let me know.

    Thank you, Rommel

      Hello,

The one at the top is an original in bronze and made by Friedrich Linden of Lüdenscheid.

Unfortunately, the one below is a well-known fake, trying to be a silver clasp by Friedrich Linden.

      Best regards,
      Tom

THANK YOU TOM FOR THE THUMBS UP and DOWN! I suspected the silver might be counterfeit but I saw EXACTLY the same item on Snyderstreasures.com I will email them and let them know this item might be fake.

It could be worse.. at least I have one CCC in my collection

I really appreciate your help! Thank you!

I wouldn't bother, they already know

Welcome to WAF!! I can only agree with what Tom and the others have said, your top CCC is a nice original FLL in bronze. Good to see the original backplate in there as well, FLL's are notorious for losing them.

The silver is a well known fake.

                    Tom
If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

He most-likely pays for that. He either pays

                        1) to google directly to put him high on the list or
                        2) 2nd or 3rd party to continually enter searches/correct hits against his site. or
                        3) He has a bot running someplace that is sending search/hit info for his tite back to google

I heard back from Mr. Snyder. His comments to me were, "well experts are like ass holes every one has one .. I have been in business 55+ years and have not seen it all and can assure my ccc is the real deal

Charles E. Snyder, Jr., Major, USAF (Retired)"

I then replied with something to the effect of "wow great.... can you buy my fll silver clasp since you think its real? I can give you a really good deal!" no response.. LOL

In the days before the internet, this guy probably had a good income from selling people fakes. But it will get harder and harder for him to sell this junk as more and more information is being shared by collectors. Expertise from around the world is at our fingertips and available for the mere asking. This guy will end up getting stuck with much of the crap he tried to push on others. I personally know of a few unscrupulous characters that have been driven out of the business because of the internet.

                              Best regards,
                              Tom
