In my opinion, an original WW2, German-made ribbon:

That is what I expect an original ribbon to look like. Any other type of ribbon IMO is post war or not german made.

Tom, yours is a tipical german made medal. Your ribbon is the more commonly found on the Deschler´s medals. Other german makers for this medal (steinhauer and Deumer) did exist and some other ribbons did exist too. Now I´m not completly sure by this picture if the one firstly posted on this thread is one of these other german ribbons or not. My first impresion was that maybe a good one. I´m not so sure now. Best close up views are needed.

            Excellent point, Fabio!

This other one for sale by the same seller has the same strange brown coloration and the same wear. Seems strange to me also.

Thank you for your opinion, Greg. Yes, mine is not marked with a '1' on the suspension ring so that probably means it is not a Deschler. Or could it simply be an unmarked Deschler? If not a Deschler, can you tell from the details whether mine is an S&L or Deumer?

              Best regards,

Tom, yours is a Deschler´s unmarked, but 100% authentic.

Here a comparison of the ribbon cuttings I have in my collection:

1: WWII era German Manufacturing Deschler´s.
                  2: Making the Spanish war.
                  3: Modern Manufacturing (copy)

In the case of German-made war era, the yellow stripe measures exactly 4 mm and an orange tone.

In the case of Spanish manufacturing era war, the yellow stripe measures just 3 mm in taking lemon, and is woven in a zig-zag.

For a copy of modern manufacturing, the yellow stripe measures exactly 4 mm.

The ribbon of the medal shows fpicoli, resembles the modern manufacturing (model 3), but at least I think it is not the same.

                  Julio.

                      How does this one look?

                      http://www.therupturedduck.com/WebPa...edals/m334.htm

Seems reasonably priced at $130 and it looks like a real German-made WW2 ribbon.

                      Best regards,
                      Tom

Great information on those ribbon types. Thanks for posting that.

Found this beautiful set up for sale on Hiscoll Military Antiques. This is what I'd expect a mint condition example to look like.

                          Best regards,
