This is in the wrong forum first, but I am sure one of the fine moderators will move this thread.

I do not like it for a few reasons. On the top arm the enamel almost goes straight up and does not follow the contours of the arm. The back inscription looks very sloppy, and last but not least the wording on the front is in the wrong place (on every one of these I have ever seen the first word "DER" starts about the 9 o'clock position and the word "MUTTER" is centered on the bottom arm.

I agree, the enamel (if this is enamel after all) looks wrong and the inscription on the back is also a big give away. If you do a search on mothers crosses you will find plenty of good ones to compare with. These are usually quite cheap so no great loss I guess.

No I fiquered the signature was wrong, from what I have seen the first part of the sig should have a line cross thru the middle of the Z (if you follow what I mean), and the second part seems to drop away and is not correct anyways.

I had not noticed the wording on the front. I will have to look at these a bit more, Also it does not conform to the proper colors for either silver. also although I did not add it measurements are not right. As tovalue, I bought most of what I have been posting. 30+ years ago, and if my fading memory is right, I did not spend much money on them, so its like they are free? When I posted this I looked at them main thread directory and saw a few other Mutter Cross threads ! was yours I think Al . Thanks for the help guys I am posting these for confirmation and to learn what to look for.

Hi Laurence, here is one of mine to compare too. Cost me £9 back in the late 1970's You will see how yours differs as the other members have rightly pointed out.

            Cheers, Ade.

The "starburst" (or whatever you want to call it) coming out between the arms on Laurence's cross is not as square as that on originals.
