Well it came directly from Jason Buermeister acquired at a motel buy. This is the early nickle silver version, quite rare from what Im told. Please explain why its "fake"?

A nickle silver Ostfront? I don't belive so... Look at the poor detail to the reverse. The letters are not crisp, no detail to the knife or the leaves that cross it. Nor are the berries clearly defined. Both sides of the medal show a blueish sheen that is not found on orginals let alone NS types. Notice how a portion of the finish has flaked off about the eagles head showing the underneath base metal? It is not zinc nor is it nickle silver.

I put one of these in a vice a few years back and bent the medal with pliers. The metal will bend and that blue finish will crack and peel away from the base metal.

Short of the above I advise you to just return the medal to the dealer and get your money back.

Don't buy into a dealers story even on the most common items. One still needs to do his homework.

The Swaz looks mishapen and off balence to me as well, could be the angle of the pic. Jasons prob not use to having these common medals and it slipped by him..theres a joke in there..

Its a good copy , I do not think Ive ever seen an Ost copy but I guess they exist. Heres my 88 to compare.

FYI I had taken this to the MAX show and the collectors/dealers all thought it was early Tomback and not a "fake"?

Please consider my advice too: The packet is also a fake and this very packet and its counterparts in the series have been discussed several times over the years. Note, when searching the earlier threads on the WAF you may encounter only an intimation of dubious inclination, but as the threads and posts go on you'll see the consensus certainly change - in fact these packets have been around in one form or another I believe for forty years!


And, I actually own several of this very fake series: TDB, Schwerin HSF & U boot, EK2, EK Spange....etc
